Metal-Salen Complexes: Structural Characterization and Antibacterial Activity

چکیده

The ligand, N,N'-bis(salicylidine)ethylenediamine or salen (L), and its complexes 1-3 with Ni(II), Cu(II) Mn(II) were synthesized. Various analytical methods such as microanalysis, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, ESI-MS FT-IR spectroscopy has been used to characterize the synthesized compounds. Antibacterial activity of prepared compounds tested against two Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus Bacillus subtillus Gram-negative Pseudomonas aeroginosa Escherichia coli by agar well diffusion method. screening results indicate that metal are more biologically active than free ligand. variation ions appears influence their antibacterial toward different organisms. mode action agents have also explained.

The C(2)-symmetrical "salen" ligand (+)-9 bearing two [5]ferrocenophane substituents has been prepared in five steps starting from readily available diacetylferrocene, p-hydroxybenzaldehyde and (R,R)-N,N'-diphenylethylenediamine.
